TPAS Awards Southern Winners

TPAS recently rewarded tenants, landlords and contractors for their achievements in its Southern region awards.
TPAS recognised the best schemes that empower, involve and engage tenants and the inspirational work carried out by individuals.

TPAS Chief Executive, Michelle Reid, said: “This year marks the fifth anniversary of the TPAS Awards. Competition has been very high and it’s a great testament to the tenants, landlords and contractors who continue year-on-year to improve in their quest for excellence.

“As always, I congratulate all the winners and those shortlisted. Their commitment demonstrates the increasing importance of people working together to achieve great communities, even in these most difficult times. ”

The coveted Southern Tenant of the Year was awarded to Caroline Benford from Hyde Group with Dennis Brown (Willow Housing & Care) and John Moir (Southampton City Council) being awarded 2nd and 3rd place runners up respectively.

The popular Southern Young Tenant of the Year award was snapped up by Demi-Jade Clemeston from Amicus Horizon.

Two new awards for 2012 - Excellence in Working Together and Excellence in Annual Reports - proved very popular with a high number of entries and both categories reflect the current climate in social housing where tenant involvement has never been more important. Stonham and SITRA picked up the Working Together Award, and SOHA Housing were delighted to win the Southern Annual Reports award.

The winners now go to the TPAS National Awards final on 17th July to compete against those who have won awards in the Northern and Central regions.
