CIH Level 3 Award in Resident Scrutiny

This course is an option for new and experienced scrutiny panel members. It offers a blended approach and various options for course delivery.  It builds on the participants’ knowledge and experience they have acquired whilst carrying out their scrutiny activities.

Before we could confirm a programme with you, we suggest that we meet to identify and map the panels’ knowledge and activities with the learning outcomes.  We will then be clear about the exact time and resources needed by each organisation and panel member to complete the course.

As an indication about the times involved we would suggest the following:

Unit 1 - Resident Participation in the Housing Service

This unit is delivered in 3 full day (or equivalent) face to face training sessions. We anticipate that the panel members would start the assessment tasks at these sessions and complete them at home. How many days training would depend on the times that panel members are able to commit to the training and how confident they are they are in tackling the assessment tasks.

Unit 2 - Resident Participation in Performance Management

This unit is geared to the panels’ actual scrutiny activity. We suggest that this is delivered in 1-2 sessions and includes the assessment activity although parts can be completed at home

Support Sessions

We know that an important aspect of ensuring the learners are able to pass the course is to allocate time for 1-1 support and tutorial sessions.

Although we offer phone and email support to the learners we suggest that you allocate 2-3 full or half day support sessions where the tutor at a suitable venue and time can meet the learners.
