Hot Water, Less Waste: How Your Shower Could Save Energy
How can social landlords reduce energy use, lower bills and support more energy-efficient homes?
These were some of the questions explored in our recent webinar with Recoup ‘ Hot Water, Less Waste: How Your Shower Could Save Energy’
The session featured Caroline and Chris from Recoup, who introduced attendees to wastewater heat recovery technology and explained how it can help make homes more energy efficient.
Turning wastewater into energy savings
Wastewater heat recovery systems capture heat from water as it drains away from a shower and use it to preheat the incoming cold water. This means less energy is needed to heat the water for the next shower, helping to reduce energy consumption and potentially lower household bills.
Attendees were introduced to two Recoup products: the Heat Deck shower tray replacement and the EasyFit under-bath unit. The presenters explained how the systems work, their installation requirements and their potential to save up to 45–50% of the energy used per shower with the Heat Deck system.
Questions, practical considerations and next steps
The webinar also explored some of the practical questions landlords may have when considering this technology, including installation, maintenance, noise, access for inspections and funding opportunities.
The discussion highlighted the potential for wastewater heat recovery to support social landlords in improving energy efficiency, particularly as they look for ways to reduce running costs and create more sustainable homes for residents.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed questions, and to Caroline, Chris and the Recoup team for sharing their expertise.
