Nomination story
In recognition of Mr Royston Thomas, 90 years old, of Broom House. Roy and his daughter Sharon arrange events at the scheme, for example a Hawaiian evening last year which was so creative with ukulele band too. It was lovely to see people laughing and enjoying the event. Roy provides (with daughter Sharon who holds a food hygiene certificate) twice weekly breakfast clubs for residents, and also they provide a once a month Sunday roast dinner. If people cannot afford to pay they are still welcomed. The local community are also welcome to attend. Roy also maintains the front communal garden where he has put in electrics (signed off by GCH) to enable him to provide the Christmas lights and many of the community come by to see them. I am also aware that Roy/Sharon have previously provided Easter egg hunts and games for the local children. Roy provides a way for people to regularly share a hot meal in company, helping to prevent isolation for people and bring Broom House Residents and the community together.
