EnviroVent - what we do and how can we help..

Tuesday 29th of September 2020

EnviroVent have recently joined Tpas as Commercial Member, their Sales Director John Moss talks about the work they do in social housing.

Who is Envirovent, what do they do?

EnviroVent design, manufacture and install award-winning home ventilation systems that cure condensation and mould and improve indoor air quality.

The EnviroVent brand has been serving the social housing sector and the wider nation for over 30 years. In that time, we have helped over a million homes solve damp, condensation and mould issues with our award-winning ventilation products.

Located in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, we employ over 250 people and have become the UK’s leading manufacturer and installer of sustainable ventilation solutions.

What was the reason for joining Tpas?

We work closely with Landlords but engagement with residents has always been key to our success. The free of charge home surveys we carry out help us to understand the unique challenges residents face in maintaining a healthy home environment.  We spend upto 90% of our time indoors and the quality of the air in our homes can significantly affect our health. Working even more closely with residents through Tpas will help us to better understand the challenges they face and develop successful products and services for the future.

Do you think you can make ventilation interesting for Tpas Members?

There is a very public conversation happening right now about indoor air quality, which is exciting for us as this will ultimately lead to improvements in living conditions for residents. We are quite familiar with many of the dangers of polluted outdoor air but how many questions do we ask about the quality of air in our homes?  Did you know that 50% of the world’s illnesses are caused or aggravated by poor indoor air quality? We are seeing a huge increase in people visiting our website which tells us there is a growing desire for more information in this area.  As residents and their landlords understand more about the importance of a healthy indoor environment and the risks of polluted indoor air, it is important we are here to advise and help them on the journey.

Why is it a growing issue and how can you make a difference?

Condensation and Mould is one of the key disrepair issues facing residents and landlords right now and ventilation is usually an important part of the solution. Understanding the fabric of a building and the way people live in their homes helps us to understand what solutions are required.

Effective ventilation systems not only help to control condensation and mould but also help to control the levels of other airborne pollutants such as dust mites, Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Other challenges such as overcrowding and overheating in properties can be often be mitigated by effective ventilation. As we look to the future, ventilation will play an important role in achieving the government’s ambitious carbon reduction goals. EnviroVent will be leading the way in our sector and our engagement with residents has never been more important.

What are you hoping to achieve alongside Tpas Members?

We hope that our membership increases our profile with residents and Landlords and that it offers a strong platform for us to hear and understand the issues faced by residents. We want to raise awareness of the risks of condensation, mould and polluted indoor air, and let residents and Landlords know that help is at hand.

Working with other members, we believe Tpas can provide a positive vehicle for change across a whole range of subjects and has the potential to become an industry hub of best practice.
