National Scrutiny Review

Help us review how social housing landlords have responded to the COVID-19 crisis.

Tpas want to conduct a national scrutiny review to understand how social housing landlords have responded during COVID-19 crisis.

Why are we doing this?

We know many Social Housing providers have undertaken their own internal review into their response to the Covid 19 crisis, and while these reports have been insightful and interesting, it is not clear how involved tenants have been in these.

Tpas, therefore, want to ensure that the experiences, views and stories of customers/tenants/residents, across the country, are captured effectively to ensure that good practice is shared, lessons learnt are highlighted and acted upon, and future expectations of customers are communicated.

With the results, we will present back to the sector a clear picture of what tenants/residents/customers thought worked well, what didn't work well and what lessons can be learnt.

Along with Tpas members, we will actively use the results to inform social housing practice and national housing policy.

The key questions

The key question that this review seeks to answer is:

How can social housing landlords improve their services following the experience of Covid-19?

To help answer this question, we also want to know:

General

  1. What did landlords do well during lockdown?
  2. What could landlords do better in a second wave or future crisis?
  3. How might everyday services be different from now on? (Rent, repairs, action on anti-social behaviour and communication)

Tenant Engagement

  1. What did landlords do well during lockdown?
  2. What could landlords do better in a second wave or future crisis?
  3. How might tenant engagement be different from now on?
