The last few years have seen constant change in the direction of housing policy. This course gives you what's new, including current trends in issues such as supply, demand, affordability, tenure, regulation and sustainability. Ideal to give you the context for your role whether you are a volunteer or new staff member.

On this course you will fly through a timeline of significant changes in housing policy and regulation, then explore four themes giving you an overview and time to debate the issues in your area with your follow participants.
- Housing supply – where are new homes coming from, what tenure are they?
- Affordability - a look at how policies affect the ability to pay for housing
- The sustainability agenda
- Housing policies that affect social housing and communities
Course content
- The context - key events that have shaped the current housing policy
- Housing Regulation post Grenfell
- Housing supply nationally and locally - there's not ust one housing market out there
- Recent housing policies such as retrofitting and sustainability
- Considering the complex link between rents, earnings, benefits and 'affordability'
- Considering what the key housing issues are in our own communities
Audience
This course is designed for tenants and residents who want to understand the context of the voluntary work they do with their housing provider and in their own communities. It is also for staff new to the world of social housing and wanting a grounding in the current issues and approaches.
By completing this course you will
Have more of a rounded view of where social housing fits in to the wider housing supply debate. Consider how the complexities of housing supply, tenancy types, benefit changes and homelessness make the housing world difficult to understand and navigate.

The course will run from 10am until 3pm.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be made in writing. If you cancel your place less than 7 working days before the training you will incur the full cost.
If you are unable to attend, you can send a substitute delegate at no extra cost. All substitute delegates must be notified to Tpas in writing.
Once we have received your cancellation in writing we will forward you a confirmation of your cancellation detailing what you will be charged.
Tpas Right to Cancel
We aim to make sure that the training courses run as planned. However, there may be times when, due to circumstances beyond our control, we have to cancel the training. Should this be the case we will give you as much notice as possible. If you have already paid for the cancelled training we will give you a full refund. Should we run the training again, we will give you priority.
